The Courtyard is on the A65 just outside Settle in North Yorkshire.  You can email us here; scroll to the bottom of the page for all telephone numbers and our opening hours.

It’s easy to make a full day out of your visit to The Courtyard, there’s so much to do and see in the area.

We’re on the doorstep of the charming market town of Settle, a traditional Dales settlement with a wide range of local shops.  Giggleswick, just a mile away, is renowned for its famous public school, now over 500 years old.   The dome of the school chapel, a gift to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, dominates the horizon - borrow the key from the school reception to see inside, a glittering surprise awaits.

There are some wonderful drives from The Courtyard – circling up to Malham Tarn, the highest lake in England, or up Ribblesdale to see the world heritage viaduct.  At every turn you’ll capture a beautiful view, and birdlife abounds as you explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This being the Dales, there is walking and cycling galore.  We’re just a few miles from Malham with its world-famous Cove, and the Tour de France in 2014 put the whole Dales on the international cycling map.  Yorkshire's Three Peaks – Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough, Great Whernside – are our near neighbours.  Don’t feel you have to climb all in one day, though many rise to that challenge!

Keep an eye on our Events pages to see what’s on, from the Settle Storytelling Festival to Grassington’s longstanding arts festival.  In May and June, you’ll see the verges thronged with traditional gypsy caravans, going to Appleby for the annual Horse Fair. For a real taste of the Dales, make sure you see one of the annual agricultural shows where everyone comes out for fell races, livestock judging and competitive produce and flower shows.
