We are delighted to have been runner up, and Highly Commended at the White Rose Awards 2016 in the Producers & Makers Category -it was a fabulous way to end what has been our 25th year in business

Simon and Sally Robinson created Dalesbred 25 years ago, in nearby Austwick. Everything is still made within eight miles of The Courtyard. Their handmade furniture and gorgeous soft furnishings grace beautiful homes across Europe.

"I'm inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement and William Morris' philosophy: ‘have nothing in your home that you do not know to useful, or believe to be beautiful’"

Simon’s iconic lambing chair, opposite, shows how he fufills Morris' vision.  Sally meanwhile works wonders with forlorn old chairs and sofas.   With repairs and new covers, even resizing much-loved pieces, she has a magician's touch.

"I hate once-loved pieces hitting the skip.  Think of all the happy times they've witnessed.  I love saving those memories, making a piece better than new, to enhance another generation of family life."

Dalesbred's interior design and curtain-making showroom is based in The Courtyard.  Sally and co-designer Carolyn offer professional know-how and bags of ideas so freshen up a room, or totally transform your home.
