Stepping into Richard's delightful restaurant, the first thing you see is the open plan kitchen, on the go from dawn til late preparing his entirely home-made menu.

Look beyond, and a welcoming airy cafe-brasserie beckons you - beautiful art, vibrant colours, and deeply comfortable chairs.  Open the menu, and it's immediately clear that this chef really is all about the food.  Fresh, local, seasonal food - modern British with a twist, and surprising pairings of ingredients that set your tastebuds tingling.  It goes without saying that provenance is all - Richard prides himself on local sourcing:

"I'm absolutely passionate about detail.  That's why we cure our own salt beef - from local herds - and smoke our own salmon.  It's why our chefs are in to bake fresh bread first thing every morning.  We forage for wild garlic, sweet talk local farmers into selling us their best beasts and I scour the area for exciting new produce and ideas."

In the great tradition of European café-brasseries, there's a wide-ranging all-day menu. A mid-shop stop for a smooth coffee and homemade cake?  Tick.  Delicious lunches with light bites and daily specials?  Tick.  Indulgent afternoon teas, with a glass of fizz on the side?  Of course!  Richard offers a delicious evening menu three nights a week, and his Sunday lunches are legendary.
