Positive news in the Yorkshire Dales economy this week when Simon and Sally Robinson of Dalesbred, the Austwick-based cabinet makers and specialist upholsterers, announced major expansion plans.
The family-run company originated in The Smithy on the village green in the Dales village of Austwick. For more than 20 years, it has specialised in bespoke furniture, re-upholstery and soft furnishings. Simon and Sally are expanding Dalesbred and creating a major showroom in The Courtyard, the new destination for home and lifestyle shopping on the A65 near Settle.
Alongside their new showroom, Dalesbred have moved their manufacturing base into larger workshop premises in Settle, creating three new jobs and they will shortly be recruiting two new employees, a cabinet maker and an upholsterer. As Simon commented:
“Unlike the experience of buying furniture or soft furnishings ‘off the shelf’, commissioning Dalesbred to create something for your home is a true collaboration. Furniture designed and created specifically for your home and to suit your lifestyle.
“We’re delighted that demand from our loyal and new customers is enabling Dalesbred to increase production, employ and train more craftsmen and women locally, and that it’s possible to expand without moving further afield.
“Opening our new showrooms in The Courtyard will be a great boost for Dalesbred. It’s the perfect environment to set off our furniture, sofas, chairs, and curtaining, and give us the space to have wonderful designer paints and wallpapers. We’re confident that regular customers and new visitors alike will love the blend of original, imaginative and stylish products on offer from The Courtyard’s unique blend of shops and restaurant.”
